About La Marmotte

La Marmotte is our local sportive and entries for this event sell out fast. We are an official La Marmotte Tour operator and each year are given a set of guaranteed entries. These entries are included as part of our holidays shown on the next tab.

The event is a true test of your stamina and riding ability starting in our home town in Bourg d'Oisans before tackling the Col du Glandon, Col du Telegraphe, Col du Galibier and finally Alpe d'Huez. With over 5000 metres of climbing this is not an event for the novice or unfit rider and will truly be an experience of a lifetime.

The event takes place on the first Saturday of July and attracts nearly 7000 riders.

Tour Reviews

Hi Helen and Phil, We would like to let you know how much we enjoyed the tour. I thought it was well structured and invaluable that we did the course over two days. Although Denise was not taking part in the event she enjoyed the rides she did & her main goal was to climb Alp d Huez. We also enjoyed the company of everyone in the house & Denise was in her element playing "Mother". We enjoyed the BBQ evening especially as the Aussies took over..........they know a bit about BBQs! We will return to Bourg again but next time without the pressure of the Marmotte. Once again thanks to you & all your staff for all your help. Jim & Denise xx

Hi Helen and Phil, The cycling trip you organised really couldn’t have been any better. It offered excellent preparation for La Marmotte, in knowledgeable and enjoyable company and over superb terrain. To have cycled all the route before the event ensured there were few surprises on the day. Well done! The assistance you offered as I struggled up to the top of the Croix de Fer on one of the recce days was most welcome – I really did need someone to hold my cycle for me at the top while I almost fell off! It was also good to cycle in the company of several very experienced road men – I learn’t a lot! If you’re able to, please pass on my kind regards to Craig; his company was especially welcome and we both enjoyed reminiscing about climbing in the 70’s and 80’s.
