| Pinerolo at 367m above sea level is nestled in the valley of the
Italian Alpes. In times gone past is was a strategic military
crossroads and still has a military school. The town
can be dated back to the 9th century with its cathedral. At
various times in its history the town of Pinerolo has been under
French ownership. Pinerolo held the 2006 winter Olympic
curling events and was the start and finish point of stages in
the 2011 Tour de France.
Pinerolo has a multitude of shops, cafes and restuarants
tucked down narrow streets and overlooked by well looked after
churches.
From Pinerolo there is easy train access to both Turin and
Milan. |
