Les Deux Alpes - Day 5

The Les Deux Alpes climb is often forgotten by people in the area but is one not too be missed and has featured in the Tour de France on many occasions. Probably the most famous stage was in 1998 when  Marco Pantani won the stage from Grenoble to Les Deux Alpes on his way to taking the overall title. The climb starts to the side of the massive dam  Barage du Chambon - before rising like its more famous cousin Alpe d'Huez. Les Deux Alpes has 10 numbered bends but is never as steep as Alpe d'Huez. At the top of the climb is the major winter ski resport of Les Deux Alpes.
