Customer Comments - Alpe d'Huez to Italy

- Have just completed the Alpe d’ Huez to Italy 2012 trip with Phil and Alan. Had a fantastic although challenging time riding through a beautiful part of the world. Phil was a great guide and made me feel confortable riding at my pace. The trip was well organized and flowed very well. The accomodation was very good, i especially enjoyed my time at Molines en Queyras a great little town . Our group was a great bunch who just wanted to enjoy our cycling and the scenery. I would highly recommend More than 21 Bends to anyone either solo or a group of friends considering an adventure in the Alps. [Graham Lucas]

- Alpe d’Huez-Italy tour, Sept 10th to Sept 17th. Phil & Helen were outstanding hosts. They were attentive in a very unobtrusive way; casual yet available for all needs whether for mechanical issues, personal issues, or guidance. They did a wonderful job encouraging all riders in the group and providing the required support irrespective of their ability or their position on the road. They provided an environment in which all riders could complete the day’s ride at their own pace. The week was laid out in a way that provided everyone with a challenging experience over the most well known mountain stages, and included stops in charming locales that offered clean rooms and excellent food. What a thrill to make it up the Alpe d’Huez, but who knew what a thrill it would be to make it up the col d’Agnel? Great last day with the last climb of the week ending on top of the col du Galibier. I would recommend Morethan21bends to any cycling enthusiast looking for the chance to experience a tour in the alps. [Chris G]

- Alpe d’Huez-Italy Tour – 27th August, 3rd September 2011: an amazing experience. Helen and Phil were fantastic hosts and guides (and I mean guides in prepping for the adventure as much as riding it!) Well thought through week with the right balance of iconic climbs on a dialy basis and across the week. Point to point riding was easy with the excellent support vehicle service (cheers Back!) and the accommodation was always clean, comfortable and inviting; quircky too – what was that dining room all about in Briancon? There was never any pressure; the cycling was done at a pace to suit, with excellent support from Phil who was always around to offer support and an encouraging word. The col d’Agnel was tough over the last 9ks but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world: there were many many highlights throughout the week but I reckon the resevoir on the plateau before that last climb was a little piece of heaven on earth. The last day was a stunner: Izoard, Lautaret and Galibier from where we could track a lot of our journey across the week. You like cycling? Go for it! I’m a triathlete, so not a good pack rider or descender but my fellow cyclists were stars: tolerant and welcoming. The whole experience left me wanting more….still fancy learning to play the guitar as a next challenge, but…I’m gonna focus on cycling from now on. Thanks Phil, Helen, Gary and Beck. - My wife and I just completed the Alpe d’ Huez to Italy trip with Phil and Helen and had a terrific time. They are very welcoming hosts and the trip was very well planned. Whilst challenging it was very enjoyable and all the accomodation and food was first class. We had a great group to ride with and Phil sets an excellent tone for the trip, accomodating everyones abilities with no one feeling hurried or slowed down. I would highly recommend More than 21 Bends to anyone considering a trip to the Alps. Many Thanks. [Simon Veitch]
