The Col du Lautaret is a crossroads on most of tours and at 2055
metres a fairly high one. Sitting at the bottom of the Col du
Galibier it is often overlooked. You can approach the climb from
our base in
Bourg d'Oisans (west) or from Briancon (east).
The western descent
of the Col du Lautaret features in the
La Marmotte cycling Sportive in July.
The western approach of the Col du Lautaret contains some
tunnels up to 800metres in length. They tend to be lit but it is
recommended to take lights with you. At the top of the
Lautaret you will also find a choice of places to eat or grab a
drink and a rest. |
