Col du Lautaret - Days 3 & 5

The Col du Lautaret is a crossroads on our tour and at 2055 metres a fairly high one. We will first come across it on the descent from the Col du Galibier on Day 3 where we will descend the eastern side about 25 km to the walled town of Briançon. This long sweeping descent will become a long sweeping climb on day 5 as we tackle it in reverse on our way to Les Deux Alpes. The western descent on day 5 takes in the fantastic valley featuring the off-piste ski resort of La Grave and a few long tunnels. The western descent features in the La Marmotte cycling Sportive in July.
