Col d'Ornon - Day 1

Coming out of Valbonais we have already started the climb to the Col d'Ornon (last used in the Tour de France in 2002 and interestingly named the Col d'Ormon). We climb through the valley with steep mountains rising up either side. This climb although never steep is harder than it looks which is probably due to the long straights (a rarity in the Alpes) and the sun beating down on your back. Once at the top though it is a fantastic 15km descent all the way back to Bourg d'Oisans.
