The Col de Montgenèvre sits on the
boarder of France and Italy. The climb starts just to the north
of Briançon at 1350m and peaks out at 1850m at the ski resort in
Montgenèvre. It is at this point that you pass through the border
into Italy. It is a main link between France and Italy and so can
sometimes be busy with traffic. The views back over to Briançon and
on in to Italy are worth the climb.
The descent into Italy is fast and flowing. we usually stop in
the small village of Cesana for a coffee and a bite to eat mainly
because this will be your first experience of Italy. The climb
that follows is the harder Colle di Sestriere. |
