on the Italian side this is the third highest paved road
pass of the Alpes, after Stelvio Pass and Col de l'Iseran
and the highest international pass of the Alpes as it
crosses the French Italian border.
The col has a rather short Tour de France / Giro
d'Italia history. It was first used in the Tour de
France in 2008 with Egoi Martinez crossing the summit
first. It was last used in the Giro d'Italia for in 2007
when Yoann Le Boulanger crossed the summit first.
The Colle dell'Agnello is the highest point on any of
the Tours that we currently run and due to its
remoteness and height is only open from June to October. |
