Bourg d'Oisans
The market town of Bourg d'Oisans sits at the base of
Alpe d'Huez (made famous by the Tour de France) and has a population of approximately 3000
people. It has been used as a start town in the
Tour de France on many
occasions - the last being in 2008. It can be found in
France's Isere department about 50mins drive from Grenoble,
the capital of the French Alps, and
lies at the point at which six contrasting steep valleys
(known collectively as the Oisans)
meet at 750 metres above sea level.
Due to its central position in this area, Bourg d'Oisans
is the ideal location for a cycling holiday in the
Alps, and because our base lies at the foot of the mountains all
rides back to town end with a sweet alpine decent into the
valley and along to Bourg d'Oisans.
The town has lots of bars and restaurants an abundance of patisseries and loads of shops so is an
ideal place to explore and chill out after a day riding in the
mountains.
As well as cycling there are lots of other things to do,
a dip in the great outdoor swimming pool after a ride is a
must on hot day, or alternatively you might like to visit
the Museum of Minerals and Fauna, or the Maison du Parc
Ecrins, go to the cinema or take advantage of our onsite
Massage services.
